Ministry employees contribute over Rs 12 million to flood victims

All employees of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and bodies under it have contributed Rs 120 million for the rescue and relief works in the aftermath of the flood and landslides that occurred in the country in the recent days. A meeting of the chiefs of all the bodies under the Ministry chaired by Minister for Agricultural Development Ram Krishna Yadav on Monday decided to contribute that amount for that purpose deducting from the salary of all employees, the Ministry has stated. Accordingly, five days' salary of the secretary at the Ministry, four days' salary of the joint-secretary, three days' salary of the under-secretary and officer level employees, two days' salary of the ungazetted first and second class employees and one day's salary of the classless employees would be deducted and the amount deposited in the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. Ministers observe flood-hit areas in Dhanusha Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation, Mahendra Yadav and Minister for Agricultural Development, Ram Krishna Yadav on Monday took stock of the damage caused due to the flood and inundation at various places of Dhanusha district. The ministers, who are from Dhanusha district itself, inspected a dozen flood affected places including Pulchok, Musahari Tol, Mujeliya, Laxminiya in Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City. Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Yadav said they have come to Dhanusha as per the Cabinet decision assigning ministers to take stock of the flood damages in different districts across the country. He said the government is vigorously working to alleviate the suffering resulting from the disaster. He said the government has assessed that there is a crisis situation in 13-14 districts of the Tarai due to flooding and inundation, adding necessary water purification tablets have been distributed to the flood victims in the district. Agriculture Minister said that a decision has been made to provide Rs 200 thousand as relief to each family losing one of their family members to the flooding. He further said the Chief District Officer has been directed to provide food grains and foodstuff to the victim families. The minister duo also inspected the Ratu Bridge along the East-West highway that links Dhanusha and Mahottari districts. The bridge has been damaged by the flooded river. RSS
