Behind the scenes of teachers day

Teacher’s day is a big celebration all around the world where students renounce and celebrate their teachers. We celebrated teacher’s day on 21 of July. For the preparation of the program I, Zoya Maharjan, the school captain and Dipesh Bohara the School Vice-Captain called a meeting with all of the Student Council Members 3 days prior and in that meeting we discussed a plan. We realized that we needed a certain amount of money to make this day possible so we decided to ask all of our fellow students to provide a certain sum of money. For the drinks and gifts Chhiring Tamang took the responsibility to buy red pens for our teachers where Rubita Danuwar went to buy cold drinks. Two days prior to the program Amran Maharjan, Ruth Achhami, Rashmi Rai, Hongyoung Rai, Chhring Tamang, Soniya Pun, Rubita Danuwar and me sat together and made the songs and decorations related teacher’s day. Following on with the program itself Soniya Pun and Hongyoung Rai were going to MC the first half of the program while Rashmi Rai and Chhiring Tamang were going to host the second half. We also wanted to add a few performances for our teachers so I went along with Chhiring class to class asking if anyone would like to perform we got a lot of names of excited students willing to perform. So a day before the program I prepared a dance with chhring and handcrafted a bouquet of flowers for our teachers. Morning of teacher’s day Chhiring and Rubita came with all of the supplies while I came with the flowers but very last minute we made greeting cards for the teachers. Hongyoung came up with the idea to make our teachers play  musical chairs and we had to manage a prize for that as well. Throughout the morning everyone was busy practicing. Around 1:30 Ranjit Shrestha managed the music and we did a final rehearsal with all of the performances. I might have missed some of the names but overall this was a very last minute planned program and we had a few hiccups but the program went great and all of our teachers enjoyed it.
In closing, I was so thrilled that I got to organize this program with my friends. They truly made this a memorable and fun one, filled with laughter and happiness. I hope that we will organize more programs like this with excitement. I would also like to thank our amazing organizing committee and Student Council Members who made this program possible.
